Happy 2-month-iversary to my previous post.
It’s a long-ish silence, sure, but I’ve been sort of doing things… sort of.
Looks like I’m gonna be returning to University in a few months. That’s the main thing that’s new with me. More on that in a future post.
Aside from that, I’ve been working, and I’ve been working a bit more, and here and there I’ve been drawing. I’m getting back into the flow now, having just finished another comic page last night. So we’re on track for another burst of creativity for a month or two.
As is my style.
Apparently.
MOVIES.
Of course, I went to the midnight premiere of Spider-Man: Far From Home. It was just awesome. I’ve been waiting for Mysterio on the big screen since I first saw Gobby in Raimi’s movie. I couldn’t really picture Jake Gyllenhaal as Quentin Beck until I saw him properly, but damn is he good. Their take on the character was so interesting. Kinda puts the Shattered Dimensions version of Mysterio to shame. And I was utterly blown away by that illusion sequence in the construction site. Can’t wait to see it again!

TV.
I’ve been working my way through the watchlist lately, after finishing up a more-than-brief stint going through some videogames (See below). I finished up the final season of Jessica Jones, surprisingly cool, but didn’t feel like much of an ending to the whole Netflix Defenders thing. We got a little bit of closure for Luke Cage there at the end though. Neat.

I started watching Stranger Things. Not the new season. I mean the first season. Whenever I tell people I’ve never seen Stranger Things, I get a whole range of shocked and appalled reactions, like I’ve punched a cat or something. I always knew I’d like it if I watched it, but it wasn’t high on my list. And I wasn’t really going through the list anyway so…
But yeah, it’s good so far, I’m like 4 episodes in. Pretty much what I expected from hearing bits and pieces about it over the years, but that doesn’t mean I can’t still enjoy it. Basically E.T. with a twist.

Dwight showed up on Fear the Walking Dead, that was a thing. He’s been a bit sidelined since, but it’s cool that he’s there. I have a lot to say about the Walking Dead shows, but not enough willpower to type it all out. Stay tuned.
GAMES.
I gave myself a bit of closure on Jak II and Jak 3, finally grabbing the platinum trophies from my 2012 save files on PS3. Those damn Precursor Orbs. I also re-platinum’d the original game on PS4 and started Jak II on PS4. That’s a lot to take in, I know, and it’s kinda sad, but the Jak & Daxter games basically shaped the way I make comics. They’re a huge part of my childhood, and a huge influence on parts of my current life. So I owe a lot to them. The more you know!

I attempted picking up my playthrough of WatchDogs 2 again, especially after seeing the Legion reveal at E3, but it didn’t really happen. I have the lack of will to sit down and play games instead of drawing but not enough energy to commit to a game and see it through. Maybe during my next break from drawing, I’ll manage to polish off some loose ends.
Why is this section of the post so big?
COMICS AGAIN.
I’m back in the saddle for a while with the comics, so progress should be swift for the foreseeable future. Especially now that I have Stranger Things to bomb through (I tend to get most of my drawing done when there’s a show on in the background.)
I recently finished up a new promo:

Which is a re-work of an idea I had like 4 years ago:

I think the new one is a bit quirkier and more suitable to the tone I want in the comics.
Fun fact for you there.
RANDOM SURPRISE POSTING.
I’m feeling like I haven’t put anything out there in a while, and it’s making me a bit antsy. So here’s the first 4 pages of Cold Reset Chapter 2.
I’m not gonna really push this post around beyond a cheeky Facebook share so hopefully these will go under the radar apart from those who actually read my blog lol. It’s a little taster of what I’ve been working on the past few months.
More to come.
SONG OF THE DAY.
