I’m Not Dead. Yet.

Hoooowdy-hoooo!

Many times these past few weeks I almost sat down and wrote this post. Finally here it is. A little update on me for those who care to know. You know who you are.

COMIC.

VERY little progress. It’s annoying, frustrating, other such words… I keep meaning to knuckle down and pop out some more pages but it’s not really happening at the speed I’d like. Writing stuff is progressing a bit more though:

For instance, I’ve been working on a huge document full of all of my assembled notes, like a Meridian Six “Bible”, if you will. Notes going back several years, of any ideas I’ve had pertaining to the series as a whole, characters, ideas for scenes, revisions of scripts, etc. I’m about halfway through putting it together and my document is currently at 164 pages long. Yeeesh.

My reason for this is so I can organise my scattered ideas and scrape them together without having to bounce around documents. Gonna print it all out and get me some snazzy highlighter pens too. Shit’s gonna be tight.

Speaking of writing:

WRITING.

So I’ve had a couple gigs drag themselves over my threshold lately. A few people wanting some summaries, character ideas, story ideas. My kinda shit. It’s brought in some extra dollah, and I get to add more to my writing portfolio, so that’s never a bad thing.

I have another one in the works so that’s exciting.

GAMES.

Another reason for the lack of comic progress is that it’s Q4.

This time of the year brings a lot of videogame content with it, most notably, one of my favourite franchises – Assassin’s Creed.

I usually blast through the newest AC titles in a matter of days/weeks, but Odyssey has taken me a lot longer due to work and other stuff outside of work. Also it’s a huge game and I’m a sucker for exploration and side-stuff. I am almost done with the main story, but I get sidetracked quite easily. Maybe another week or two…

Oh, but Spyro‘s out today so…

Also I have to play Doom, which has been gathering dust on my shelf for months…

Also I want Horizon: Zero Dawn and God of War. Also Red Dead…

Damn.

Will this comic ever see the light of day?

TV.

So The Walking Dead switched things up MASSIVELY this season. New title sequence with neat 3D artwork, Rick leaving the show for his own movie trilogy (!!!), Morgan joining Fear the Walking Dead and that show murdering all of its main cast in the space of 5 episodes… Also Carol is Legolas now. And She-Carl made her dad’s hat increase in size.

Too much to talk about. Maybe in another post.

STUFF.

Stan Lee died yesterday. I have no words to express how I feel. The idea that I would meet him one day was always pushed off, like “there’s always next year’s con”. Then he stopped doing so many cons, then the health stuff, then the restraining order on that scammer, then more health stuff…

Stan Lee‘s work was one of my main influences for getting into comics and starting my own. I feel like my own comic has grown up and developed alongside me for over a decade now, and I owe that to Mr. Lee.

Truly devastated.

On a lighter note:

BAND.

My band’s FIRST proper gig is at the end of this month!

Dreading it because we’re gonna fuck up so bad because we never get to practice as a 4-piece, so one person is always a bit out of sync with stuff every week. It’s this big thing. Whatever.

I’m also hyped about it though, because it’s just gonna be fun.

MUSIC.

Too much to mention.

New Korpiklaani. New Skalmold. New Tenacious D. Got a couple gigs coming up with various bands. My iPod’s been all over the shop lately. Maybe next post.
